Each member brings deep ties to the community, a passion for the arts, and a shared commitment to ensuring that the Heights continues to thrive as a vibrant center for creativity.

Shannon Morris

Executive Director

Bio

Shannon Morris received her BFA in photography from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU.  Being born and raised in Cleveland Heights she returned there years later to raise her children and begin bringing her dream of a collaborative arts center to fruition.

ARTFUL is the culmination of her life as an artist, gallery owner and an arts advocate.

Shannon is excited to continue to grow ARTFUL, and work with and among artists that inspire her.

Brady Dindia

Board President

Bio

A native of Shaker Heights, Brady now resides in University Heights. A self-described “possible work-a-holic”, Brady enjoys putting her all into her projects and also serves as Board Secretary of Coventry PEACE Campus. Growing up, Brady loved accompanying her artist mother to her studio and watching the artists create. A graduate of Fine Arts from Kent State, Brady looks forward to getting back to her painting and the prospect of learning from new artists.

Nicky Turco

Bio

Nicky Murray Turco is a small business owner and long-time Shaker Heights resident with a background in strategy, leadership, and community service. Nicky has previously worked in banking and consulting, and earned both her MBA and Bachelor of Science in Management from Case Western Reserve University. Deeply committed to her community, she has served on numerous boards and committees supporting education, the arts, and family programs throughout the Cleveland and Shaker Heights area.

Sarah Curry

Board Member

Bio

Sarah Curry was born and raised in Cleveland, graduated from Shaker Heights High School, received her B.F.A. from Kansas City Art Institute and her Masters in Art Education from Case Western Reserve University. She has been teaching art to high school students at Brush High School for over twenty years. Curry works in a wide variety of styles and media and her personal work narrative revolves around storytelling that addresses women’s roles in society. Her work has been exhibited at galleries both locally and nationally and she is represented by HEDGE Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio.

David King

Board Member

Bio

David King was born in Stow, Ohio and currently lives in Cleveland Heights. He received his MFA in Painting from Kent State University. He retired in 2014 from teaching high school art for thirty years. He has been an Advanced Placement Reader for over a decade and is an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University in the Art Education Department. Mr. King’s work has evolved to a contemporary style and has been exhibited in  galleries and businesses both locally and nationally.

Neal Martin

Board Member

Bio

Neal James Martin was born and raised in western Ohio. He received a B.F.A. from The Cleveland Institute of Art with a major in Illustration with a minor in Ceramics. Working at Ernst & Young as an illustrator and graphic designer Neal produced materials for many Fortune 500 companies across the United States. Early in Artful’s history he created NJM Ceramic Art Studios enabling a group of ceramists to create and teach ceramics. Best known today for his ceramic “entities” called MeBähs, he continues his lifelong creative career.

Sarah Mehler

Bio

Sarah is a creative and strategic fundraising professional with more than 20 years of experience helping nonprofit organizations grow and thrive. She is skilled in grant writing, donor relations, and development strategy, with a track record of securing funding and building sustainable programs in the arts, culture, health, human services, and community development sectors.

Throughout her career, Sarah has partnered with major foundations, corporate funders, individual donors, and community leaders to cultivate meaningful relationships that advance mission-driven goals. She is passionate about connecting people and resources to ideas that make a difference.

Based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Sarah holds dual B.A. degrees in International Politics and Spanish Literature from Miami University of Ohio and a Master of Urban Science in Urban Policy from Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs.

Eric Mundson

Bio

Eric Mundson is a seasoned design and communications consultant with a career spanning media, design and technology. As co-owner of a small design firm and a full-time Marketing Consultant at The Riverside Company, he brings both strategic insight and hands-on creativity to every project. A University Heights resident for over 20 years, Eric is deeply invested in his community and ARTFUL’s mission. He’s often found lending his time—and muscle—to events, clean-ups, and creative initiatives. A passionate supporter of the arts, Eric also enjoys golfing, spending time with his family and pets, and celebrating the vibrant energy that ARTFUL brings to the neighborhood.

Darius Steward

Board Member

Bio

Darius Steward (he/him) is a Cleveland-based visual artist and educator whose work explores identity, race, memory, and belonging. Drawing inspiration from his children, family, and community, he creates paintings, sculptures, and public artworks that connect personal narratives wilt shared cultural experiences.

Steward received his MFA from the University of Delaware and his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. He has exhibited nationally, with solo shows at the Swope Museum of Art (Indiana) and the Canton Museum of Art (Ohio). He has completed public murals with organizations including the Inter|Urban Art Project, Cuyahoga Community College, and Midtown Cleveland.

His work is held in major collections such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, University of lowa Stanley Museum of Art, and the Flint Institute of Arts, among others. Steward currently teaches at Laurel School.

Rachel Williams

Board Member

Bio

Rachel was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, and has always had a passion and appreciation for the arts, and a great love for people. In addition to a background in advertising, Rachel also has a Masters in Library Information Science, with a specialty in image database management. As ARTFUL grows, her knowledge in this area will be a wonderful bonus! Rachel now resides in Akron with her husband and two children, but maintains an active social and working life in the Heights area.
