ARTFUL is proud to be settling into our new permanent home at 2555 Euclid Heights Blvd., a place shaped by a long history of openness and shared community. After the building was rebuilt in the early 1990s, it became a rare example of a sacred space intentionally designed to welcome people from different traditions. Its layout, its symbolism, and its use all reflected a commitment to connection across backgrounds — a spirit that feels deeply rooted in the fabric of Cleveland Heights.
Today, ARTFUL carries that spirit forward.
Our mission has always been grounded in the belief that creativity flourishes when everyone feels welcome — artists and neighbors from every walk of life, identity, and lived experience. With 20 artist studios and our ceramics studio now complete, we’re transforming this historic space into a vibrant hub where community, imagination, and belonging come together under one roof.
Your support helps ensure that this tradition of openness not only continues, but grows — allowing us to expand our studios, build new community spaces, and create a home for creativity that truly reflects the diversity of the people we serve.
Honoring the Art and Legacy Inside Our Space
One of the defining artistic features of our sanctuary is the wood carving created by Mort Epstein, a distinguished Cleveland artist, designer, and craftsman whose work bridges fine art and functional design. Epstein’s contribution — often described as a Tree of Life carving — was commissioned when the building was rebuilt in the early 1990s and reflects both artistic excellence and the welcoming spirit of the space.
Mort Epstein (1917–2013) was celebrated throughout his long career for his versatility across sculpture, design, and woodworking, and he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cleveland Arts Prize for his impact on the region’s creative culture.
This meaningful carved piece continues to inspire ARTFUL’s work — a reminder that art can be a bridge between history, community, and the creative explorations still unfolding here.

And today, we are thrilled to share transformative news: ARTFUL has purchased an 18,000-square-foot building with amazing potential at 2555 Euclid Heights Blvd. in Cleveland Heights — perfectly situated midway between the Coventry and Cedar-Fairmount commercial districts!
Now, as we settle into our permanent home, your support is more crucial than ever. We have already completed 20 artist studios as well as the ceramics studio. Together, we can continue to transform this beautiful space into a vibrant center for creativity, collaboration, and community. Located in a residential area on the border of Cleveland proper, our new home naturally fosters diversity and inclusion and we are committed more than ever to amplify underrepresented voices – especially at a time when all perspectives are vital.
